Ramen everywhere

curated by Dieter Kosslick

Ramen has long since become more than merely a kind of noodle soup. From China to Japan and Vietnam, there are now numerous versions. It has achieved an iconic status all over the world. With a twinkle in the eye and in a hilariously funny way, the great director Jûzô Itami's film Tampopo already foresaw this future evolution back in the 1980s. Germany, too, has caught ramen fever. The Berlin-based master chef and cosmopolitan The Duc Ngo, who continues to experiment with the noodle soup and showcases a range of variations in his restaurants, has significantly contributed to the soup's triumphal culinary success in this country. He and his team invite guests to explore ramen and other Japanese cuisine highlights in the Neuhardenberg Castle park.

The culinary voyage is flanked by a panel discussion on Far Eastern cooking styles and the success of ramen. The evening is rounded off with the great Japanese master of film, electronic and pop avant-garde Ryuichi Sakamoto's catchy and well-known compositions.

The steaming pots, iconic Japanese movie and Ryuichi Sakamoto's music are the ingredients for an homage to enjoying good food, coming together and the art of tasting the whole world in a simple bowl of noodles.
