Jarrod Cagwin, drums, percussion

His CDs are sought-after highlights in the collections of numerous music lovers; they are considered absolute style icons – both in musical as well as visual terms. His performances have brought virtuosic world music to countless festivals. After a longer gap, his latest CD The Flood and the Fate of the Fish was released by enja records in 2020.

Rabih Abou-Khalil effortlessly crosses the divides between the worlds of traditional Arabic music, European classical music and free jazz. Like a wanderer between cultures, the artist, who was born in Lebanon and now lives in France, blends Arabic, European and American music into a clever mix that is nothing like other en vogue world music. Unprejudiced, with a keen intellect, outstanding instrumental and composition skills and plenty of humour, he manages to create a successful and very unique blend of these frequently contrasting soundscapes. The result is a fresh kind of music, fascinatingly complex, captivatingly virtuosic, extremely sensual. His long-time musical companions are the US American Jarrod Cagwin on the drums and percussion instruments and the Italian accordionist Luciano Biondini.
