Kino trifft Kulinarik
('Cinema Meets Culinary Art')
curated by Dieter Kosslick

The art of bringing food to the big screen has evolved into a separate genre: there's Mostly Martha starring Martina Gedeck, Chocolat with Juliette Binoche, and the classic Louis de Funès film The Wing or the Thigh?, to mention just a few. All of these films became international successes. For what is now the tenth time, a film that celebrates food will once again be screened in the Neuhardenberg Castle park – accompanied by culinary, musical and other delights.

This year's edition focuses on the new film by the Vietnam-born French director and master of sensitive filmmaking Trần Anh Hùng. He won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival for his film A Taste of Things, which is dedicated to the art of French cuisine. Starring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel, it tells the story of a gourmet who passionately enjoys cooking and his cook, who each vie for the hearts of their guests, but also for each other's hearts.

Even before the film is shown, the motto of the evening is a celebration of France, its musical and culinary arts, with a programme curated by Dieter Kosslick that includes a panel discussion, with Eckart Witzigmann just one of the guests, French delicacies served in the Rose Garden, and a concert by Burghart Klaußner, who interprets the chansons of the great French poet Charles Trenet.
