Rebekka Bakken is Norway's best-known contemporary vocalist, and without a doubt her home country's most striking voice. It effortlessly varies between rough, smoky and clear, pure tones. Although she is often referred to as a jazz singer, she views herself more as akin to traditional singer-songwriters. Her music incorporates rock, pop, chanson, jazz and folk influences; her compositions range from intimate, minimalist songs to lengthy, energetic eruptions.
