Pe Werner
Ne Prise Zimt
('A pinch of cinnamon')
Political satirist, singer-songwriter, book author and versatile pop singer: Pe Werner is at home in many artistic realms. Her song Kribbeln im Bauch, at the latest, brought her to the attention of a nationwide audience. Her albums, with their reflective, melancholic lyrics and arrangements, have won numerous awards, including an Echo and a Goldene Stimmgabel. Pe Werner concerts are not just a string of beautiful songs. 'I never saw myself in a pigeonhole. I was never inspired by the women's movement, nor driven by politics, none of that, which gave me the freedom to listen to everyone, and to simply write stories with tunes.'
When winter is just around the corner, Pe Werner adds Ne Prise Zimt ('A pinch of cinnamon') to her concert programme. With a twinkle in the eye, she devotes herself to German Christmas rituals and stories all about last minute gifts, snow shovelling duties, various choices of goose stuffing and Christmas trees between the obligatory tinsel and fire insurance. Accompanied by Peter Grabinger at the grand piano, she entertainingly strolls through a winter wonderland of pop, jazz and chansons both penned by herself as well as Christmas carols in Pe-culiar arrangements.
