Hosting the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival's annual Masterclass Student Masters programme has been a firm element of the Schloss Neuhardenberg foundation's calendar of events for some years now. This year, for the first time, Neuhardenberg will welcome a group of vocal performance students and their masterclass tutor, the singer Thomas Quasthof. Together, they will develop a repertoire of songs that will primarily be dedicated to works from the late Romanticist era, which they will then perform on stage at the end of the masterclass together with their tutor.

Bass-baritone Thomas Quasthoff set international benchmarks for almost four decades, and has moved countless people with his art. He retired from his unparalleled classical music career in 2012, and has since then performed on stage as a jazz singer, a recitalist, a cabaret artist, a presenter and an actor. Quasthoff has remained true to his art of classical vocal performance in the role of tutor – for example by participating in the Masterclass Student Masters programme, where he will be passing on his wealth of experience to the next generation of singers.
