Masterclass Student Masters
Jan Vogler Workshop
Final Concert
For over a decade, the master cellist Jan Vogler has tutored young instrumentalists at Neuhardenberg Castle for a week; the 2026 class will again solely consist of cellists for what is now the fifth time. Some of the pupils have already attended the workshop for several years or even right since the start, and loyal members of the final concert audience have the rare opportunity of following the artistic development of these young people year-on-year, an evolution that is due to the ambition, discipline and joy the music brings them. However, it is also the result of Jan Vogler's commitment and willingness to invest some of his time, besides his worldwide activities as a soloist and his work as a festival director, into this intensive form of the promotion of young musicians. Neuhardenberg Castle is more than happy to support his efforts by making its resources available, and the Masterclass Student Masters programme, which brings established classical music stars together with talented young musicians who receive important input from their collaboration with the 'masters', also pursues this goal. It was jointly initiated by the German Savings Banks Association cultural fund and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival; many of its participants are chosen from the winners of Germany's renowned classical music competition 'Jugend musiziert'.
