Keimzeit Akustik Quintett
Schon gar nicht Proust
('Anything but Proust!')
Since 2009, Keimzeit has also given acoustic performances, and this style suits the music of Norbert Leisegang, Keimzeit's mastermind. Just like the 'electric' version of the band, the acoustic quintet resolutely follows its own path on the German rock and pop scene, which makes both formations unique – and shows their close kinship. After Midtsommer and Albertine, the quintet released its third album, entitled Schon gar nicht Proust, in 2023. It is no coincidence that this translates as something like 'anything but...', and of course, the idea behind this is to decidedly focus on the apparently excluded.
The preceding album's title already not only referenced one of the volumes ('Albertine Gone') in Marcel Proust's cycle of novels In Search of Lost Time; the songs on the new album again reference further motifs from Proust's works. The compositions range from Scheherazade, which has an Arabian touch, to the airy disco sounds of Nach zwanzig Jahren and the jazzy Françoises Welt. Ultimately, the lyrics and the music fuse to become an inimitable whole that makes us search for the 'lost time' with every song, and sometimes also permit us to find it.
