Jan Vogler & Dominik Wagner
Duo concert
Cello and double bass – not exactly an everyday combination. So it's all the more exciting when two virtuosos playing these instruments take to the stage together at Schinkel Church.
Jan Vogler is one of the great classical music stars of our times. His breathtaking career has led him around the globe several times and united him with some of the most important conductors and orchestras. He is in intense dialogue with contemporary composers and artists, as proven by the many premieres of works that were in part written exclusively for him. Jan Vogler has a close relationship with Neuhardenberg, thanks to his annual cello workshop as well as regular concerts in a wide range of different formations, and also his position on the foundation's Board of Trustees.
This concert was originally planned with Finnish double bassist Janne Saksala. Unfortunately, the artist has had to cancel his participation due to illness.
We are therefore all the more delighted that Dominik Wagner agreed at short notice to prepare the exclusive duo concert with Jan Vogler and perform it as planned in the Schinkel Church. Born in 1997, the artist already belongs to the elite of the international classical music scene. The Echo and Opus Klassik award winner is highly regarded for his international presentation of his instrument in new and surprising facets, with a particular commitment to expanding the repertoire for double bass. In addition to his international concert activities, Dominik Wagner is also a sought-after teacher. He has been a professor at the University of Music Würzburg since 2023 and regularly gives masterclasses in Europe and the USA. And the more than forty thousand followers on his Instagram account testify to his ability to ensure the visibility of his work beyond the classical music scene.
