In 2011, five saxophonists from Italy, Poland, the USA, Chile and Hong Kong whose origins could not have been any more different formed a group in Vienna. What all of them had in common was the instrument, a curiosity about each other and an interest in experimenting with the diversity that was bound to result from such a mixed ensemble.

Since then, Five Sax have become a leading saxophone orchestra, as not least also proven by their busy tour schedule with performances at the world‘s most important concert halls. The quintet‘s first stage show, Sax Voyage, was inspired by the group‘s international spirit; the new programme In Time now explores the role which rhythm and groove have played throughout the various stages of music history. These two elements of music touch a deep, primeval side of human nature, and are reminders of the fact that people have so much more in common than not. The Five Sax saxophone virtuosos communicate this with their impressive arrangements of some of the most rhythmic and pulsating works in music history by composers such as Igor Stravinsky, Kurt Weill, Leonard Bernstein, Grażyna Bacewicz, Joseph Boulogne, Chick Corea and Astor Piazzolla.
