The quantum physician Werner Heisenberg formulated the uncertainty principle, according to which the position and momentum of a particle cannot be simultaneously measured with absolute certainty. In his play Heisenberg, much celebrated not only on Broadway, the playwright Simon Stephens applied this principle to the relationship between two people who circle each other like electrons governed by the laws of repulsion and attraction. Die Unschärferelation der Liebe ('The uncertainty principle of love') is the film adaptation of this romantic as well as amusing comedy, and stars Caroline Peters and Burghart Klaußner.

Greta is a school secretary and a notorious liar, as well as loud-mouthed, spontaneous and unpredictable. Alexander is a butcher on the brink of bankruptcy, as well as a music lover, a closet intellectual and a neatness fanatic. She kisses his nape at a bus stop, just like that. Apparently, she thought he was someone else. Did she really, or did she do it on purpose? In any case, this is the beginning of an electrifying love story neither of them had reckoned with only five minutes ago, and despite Alexander's marked reluctance – he stands no chance against a force of nature like Greta. The inevitable realisation: love is always a surprising event we should all reckon with.

After the screening, Caroline Peters, Burghart Klaußner and the producer Stefan Arndt will discuss the film with host Petra Gute.
