Daniel Hope & AIR Ensemble
Irish Roots

Daniel Hope is back at Neuhardenberg Castle. This year, he will be performing a very personal programme on the stage below the arc roof in the castle park. With Irish Roots, he is taking us on a journey to his family's roots. More than 100 years ago, Daniel's Hope's great-grandfather left Ireland to try his luck elsewhere. To underline his connectedness with this aspect of his personal history, the star violinist has an Irish as well as a German passport. His programme Irish Roots therefore refers to his own Irish roots, but also to the impact that Irish music has made on the history of music. It focuses on compositions by Irish composers from the Renaissance to the Late Baroque, as well as on works by George Frideric Handel, who spent the summer in Dublin when his Messiah was performed there in 1741.

The violinist has been one of the world's most versatile international violin stars for 30 years, and has played at all of the world's most important venues. As a soloist and the director of the Hope Music Academy for many years, he has already performed at Neuhardenberg Castle numerous times.
