This imaginary musical-literary journey between dusk and yearning is dedicated to the moon, that ancient mirror of humanity. From Novalis and Else Lasker-Schüler to Friedrich Hollaender and Arnold Schönberg, musical sounds, words and irony are interwoven into an homage to the night and the phantasmagorical that is inherent in the moon's shine. Thomas Mann viewed the moon as the symbol for all mediation, between men and women, the spirit and life, as well as heaven and earth. Dagmar Manzel and the Salon Orchestra »Unter’n Linden« explore this along that boundary where poetry and music meet and the subconscious starts to sing. An evening about solace and dreams, about losing and finding – and an invitation to raise your eyes and let the magic of the moon move you.

Dagmar Manzel is one of Germany's most successful actresses. However, she not only loves the theatre, films and TV, but also music, and has captivated audiences at grand music evenings and in lead roles in musical theatre productions. In the past few years, she has also started to direct, most recently Hansel and Gretel at the Komische Oper in Berlin.

The Salon Orchestra »Unter’n Linden« was formed by nine musicians from Staatskapelle Berlin who wanted to give a platform to outstandingly performed well-known jewels of salon music. This has consistently resulted in programmes that reflect their enjoyment of experimenting and performing, exquisite arrangements and musical sophistication.
