Brandenburgischer Kunstpreis 2023
('Brandenburg Art Award')

awarded by the
Stiftung Schloss Neuhardenberg foundation,
the Märkische Oderzeitung newspaper and
the federal state of Brandenburg

under the aegis of the Brandenburg State Premier

The Brandenburgischer Kunstpreis ('Brandenburg Art Award'), jointly initiated by the Stiftung Schloss Neuhardenberg foundation and the Märkische Oderzeitung newspaper in 2004, will be awarded for the 20th time this year. The 2023 award will be the first to be supported by the Brandenburg State Chancellery as a further partner. The award, as well as the accompanying exhibition, highlight that Brandenburg's art scene continues to be diverse, lively and creative. Almost 90 of the coveted statuettes awarded to the winners, which are designed by a different Brandenburg-based artist every year, have been presented in the past two decades, in the categories painting, sculpture / installation and graphic design right from the beginning. Since 2008, the Brandenburg State Premier has sponsored a lifetime achievement award that is presented to a personality who has proven outstanding dedication to the arts in the state of Brandenburg. The federal state of Brandenburg's Minister of Science, Research and Culture will be awarding an annual scholarship for the promotion of talented young artists for what is now already the tenth time. The photography prize sponsored by the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung is also celebrating an anniversary this year, as it will be awarded for the fifth time. The steadily increasing number of submissions shows that the Brandenburgischer Kunstpreis has successfully become a firmly established constant on the Mark Brandenburg cultural scene. In 2023, the awards will once again be presented at a festive ceremony that will be held under the arc roof in the Neuhardenberg Castle park. Until the end of August, a selection of the submissions will be shown together with the award-winning works in an exhibition that will be accompanied by a catalogue.
