BERLIN COMEDIAN HARMONISTS
Wunder gibt es immer wieder
('Miracles happen, time and again')
100 years of Comedian Harmonists
At the world premiere of the play Veronika, der Lenz ist da at the Komödie am Kurfürstendamm theatre on 19 December 1997, the audience went into a frenzy. The newspaper FAZ wrote that the performers 'brought down the house'. Numerous vocal ensembles subsequently performed live as the new Comedian Harmonists, but the BERLIN COMEDIAN HARMONISTS is the one that emerged from this first production and has since then been invited to perform at the great international concert halls. Their programmes now also include some of their own compositions and arrangements that carry the musical charm of the legendary Comedian Harmonists from the 1920s and 1930s over to the present.
Wunder gibt es immer wieder is a fast and furious celebratory revue to mark the 100th anniversary of the 'world's first boy group'. It is about nothing less than life, and all of its facets, today as well as 100 years ago. The sextet has once more dug deep into the history of the Comedian Harmonists and excavated more that is outrageous, comical and moving. They present new songs, including some of the unknown music created by their great role models which they came across during their excavations, as well as virtuosic interpretations of more recent pop music classics by anyone from Katja Ebstein to Peter Maffay, from Udo Jürgens to Queen. This is a revue full of surprises, musical gems and wonderful moments, an evening that lives up to its title.
