17 Hippies
The 17 Hippies are one of Germany's most unusual bands. Genre descriptions such as world music are not enough to describe how the band has made its musical strengths and willingness to experiment its raison d'être. Their very unusual style is the result of their own compositions as well as the various influences of the band's individual members and their collection of acoustic instruments: A unique mix of Eastern European melodies and rhythms, French chanson sounds and American folk. The 17 Hippies have now circumnavigated the globe several times over on tour, and have also always incorporated what is happening out there in the world into their music. In 2001, the band composed the score for Andreas Dresen's film Grill Point and also performed in it; you will therefore be able to enjoy them twice as Grill Point will be screened on the Chestnut Lawn after their concert.
