In the grey hours just before dawn, in between doubts and fatigue, songs find their final form. The world is off-kilter. When our hopes have been dented, melodies and words search for the right spot. Songs that are being evaluated for the next CD/LP; songs from a back catalogue of 52 albums, carried by the gentle and confident tones produced by the guitars, the trumpet, bass and accordion, piano and drums, play and invite you to dance the concert hours away, hours that can never be repeated. Froh, dass wir am Leben sind. ('Glad to be alive'). Holding onto elemental truths, despite all ideological divisions. Celebrating life as a victory over the destructive, over wars and demagogy. Music is a loyal companion throughout. Wenzel has appeared on stage with Arlo Guthrie, Randy Newman, Konstantin Wecker and many others. He has 'bitten the bullet' and accepted numerous prizes, from the Golden Amiga awarded by the GDR's state-owned record label to the Heinrich-Heine Prize awarded by the GDR's ministry for culture, and even including the Ehrenantenne prize awarded by Belgischer Rundfunk, the public broadcasting service for Belgium's German-speaking community, and has been awarded the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik ('German Record Critics' Award') eight times!
