Sharon Brauner, vocals
Harry Ermer, piano
Sharon Brauner was born in West Berlin; being 'fenced in' there has shaped her character: 'That cosy, cocooned feeling you have in an allotment community, coupled with the charm of a major metropolis.' Together with the pianist Harry Ermer, she will perform Yiddish golden oldies as well as her own songs. The voice of this Berlin native with Jewish roots is literally predestined for the genre of traditional Yiddish songs, which focus on love, life and an ever-present yearning. Her programme is an exuberant homage to Yiddish popular music, and at the same time a humorous and utterly joyous musical journey through the biography of the artist, who is also a successful actress: she has appeared in more than 60 films on TV and in the cinema, most recently in Florian Frerichs's award-winning 2019 film The Last Supper. Her show Berlin, Du coole Sau! premiered at Berlin's Tipi am Kanzleramt in 2021.
