Ute Lemper
Time Traveler
In the course of a career that spans 40 years, her unique interpretations, compositions and performances in musicals and other shows anywhere from London's West End to the stages of Broadway have made Ute Lemper an international star.
Her programme Time Traveller is based on songs from her 2022 album of the same name and on her autobiography, Die Zeitreisende ('The Time Traveller'), which was published last year. It tells stories from six decades lived on the stage, in front of and behind the curtain, from over 40 years of creativity and performances all over the globe. Ute Lemper and the international members of her ensemble go on a musical and poetic journey from Weimar to Buenos Aires via Paris, London and New York. Her own songs, as well as songs by Jacques Brel, Kurt Weill, Friedrich Hollaender, Leo Ferre, Joni Mitchell and other composers she has admired for a long time, create a mosaic which, completed by memories and anecdotes, reflects the life of a great artist in various eras. A poetic evening full of music and words that simultaneously reflects the parallel events in recent history in a rapidly changing world.
