The jazz pianist Omer Klein was born in Israel in 1982; the New York Times, however, described his music as 'borderless' and certainly meant this literally: Klein composes solo piano and big band pieces, for jazz trios and orchestras, scores for the theatre, dance and film. In the past few years, his regular performances with the Omer Klein Trio have wowed audiences. He has now doubled down on this with his new sextet The Poetics, which performed live for the first time at the Alte Oper Frankfurt in the spring of 2025. His long-standing trio colleagues, the bassist Haggai Cohen-Milo and the drummer Amir Bresler, both of whom he has known since his school days, form the band's basis. Collaboratively, they have created his unique and multi-award-winning music, which is influenced by so many styles – traditional Jewish music just as much as classical and contemporary jazz.

He is now exploring even more new soundscapes with his new sextet and its unusual line-up of two saxophonists, a percussionist, a bass player, a drummer and, of course, a pianist. Together, these six virtuosos form a dynamic ensemble that sweepingly fills Klein's creative cosmos with life. The contagious grooves and memorable melodies that have always characterised Klein's work are still there, though, and his new compositions continue to reflect his love for Brazilian and African music.
