Meisterschüler-Meister
('Masterclass Student Masters')
Uri Caine and his students
Wagner e Venezia
Guest starring in this year's Masterclass Student Masters production in collaboration with the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival will be a musical anarchist and master of adaptation. His deconstructions of significant works from the baroque, classical and romantic repertoire have made the American pianist Uri Caine famous far beyond the jazz scene.
They have also been greeted with astonishment by the classical music world, because the way Uri Caine treats the musical material, be it Mahler's sacred scores or Bach's Goldberg Variations, is radical and intelligent. Uri Caine develops his captivating Wagner adaptations with his students – the young musicians of the Elaia Quartett and the Serbian accordionist Marko Trivunovic – for the instrumentation in which Wagner's music was once played in Venetian cafés.
The Masterclass Student Masters programme is one element of the Savings Bank Finance Group's extensive commitment to the promotion of talented young musicians, and gives them the chance to work and perform with renowned classical music stars.
