Jan Vogler workshop
Final concert
Every year, the foundation and the master cellist Jan Vogler invite several promising young instrumentalists to Neuhardenberg for a one-week course, because despite his huge workload – worldwide concert performances, directing a festival and a continuous involvement with new projects – the sought-after classical music star endeavours to support young musicians and to share some of his wealth of experience with them as they set out on their future creative career paths. Jan Vogler's masterclass spends a week at Neuhardenberg Castle, whose quiet and remoteness are perfect for good and focused work. The masterclass then presents the results of the workshop at a joint final concert with their master in the Schinkel Church, which will also be the case this year, when once again a class consisting of cellists only will come together to get some professional inspiration not just with regard to their playing, but also for how to present their music on stage. The pop-up performance in front of a Neuhardenberg supermarket that provides a brief taster of the concert programme has also already become something of a tradition.
The Masterclass Student Masters programme unites established stars of the classical music scene with young talents at the beginning of their careers, who receive important input from their collaboration with the 'masters'. It was jointly initiated by the German Savings Banks Association cultural fund and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival; many of its participants are chosen from the winners of Germany's renowned classical music competition 'Jugend musiziert'.
