For the first time ever, this year's collaboration with the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival within the scope of the Masterclass Student Masters programme is not a revival but a premiere: together with the young ensemble Marsyas Baroque, the Swiss conductor, festival director and recorder player Maurice Steger will develop an extensive programme in Schleswig-Holstein that will then be performed in front of an audience for the first time in Neuhardenberg. It will not only include well-known, but also some of the rarely played Baroque compositions with which Maurice Steger shakes up the concert scene from time to time. Qualities such as an astonishing technique, charisma, intellect and an exceptional sensibility for the music have earned Maurice Steger the honorary title of 'Paganini of the recorder'. With his intense intonation and his exceptional energy, he has captured audiences all over the world with a range of widely differing concert formats, both a soloist as well as a conductor.

The Masterclass Student Masters programme gives young musicians the chance to collaborate with renowned classical music stars. It was jointly initiated by the German Savings Banks Association cultural fund and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, and is one element of the Savings Bank Finance Group's extensive commitment to the promotion of talented young musicians.
