John McLaughlin is one of the world's leading musicians. Rolling Stone listed him as one of the 100 best guitarists of all times; the jazz magazine Down Beat voted him the best jazz guitarist of the year seven times. John McLaughlin's band project The 4th Dimension unites musicians from different cultures and musical traditions into an all-star band. The group's music takes all of the different cultural influences on board yet also never loses the spontaneity of jazz. Gary Husband changes with ease from keyboard to drums and has collaborated with numerous famous musicians such as Jeff Beck or Gary Moore. Nicolas Viccaro began his career in Paris, where he encountered jazz, pop, Latin and African music. Stars of the scene such as Bill Evens, Mike Stern, Dhafer Youssef and Bob Reynolds soon asked him to join them for collaborative projects. Étienne M’Bappé is currently considered to be one of the world's best bassists. He has shared the stage with such greats as Ray Charles, Salif Keita and Joe Zawinul, and many others. John McLaughlin's impressive musical CV is way too long to go into the detail it deserves here; after all, it begins way back in the 1960s. Since then, McLaughlin has essentially collaborated with all of the international jazz greats, although he has always been guided by one thing: Respect and open-mindedness towards other genres, forms of expressions and cultures.
