Jan Vogler & Janne Saksala
Duo concert

Jan Vogler – cello
Janne Saksala – double bass

Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Jean-Baptiste Barrière,
Janne Saksala and Gioachino Rossini

Without exaggeration, the Jan Vogler/Janne Saksala duo project may be called a chamber music summit meeting.

Jan Vogler is one of the great classical music stars of our times. His breathtaking career has led him around the globe several times and united him with some of the most important conductors and orchestras. He is in intense dialogue with contemporary composers and artists, as proven by the many premieres of works that were in part written exclusively for him. Jan Vogler has a close relationship with Neuhardenberg, thanks to his annual cello workshop (page 70) as well as regular concerts in a wide range of different formations, and also his position on the foundation's Board of Trustees.

Janne Saksala has been the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra's first double bass player since 2008. In addition, he is also a sought-after soloist, chamber musician and lecturer at renowned music academies. He has also collaborated with contemporary composers on a regular basis and has premiered numerous works.

Violoncello and double bass, that is not exactly a common combination. We can therefore look forward to these two virtuosos taking to the stage together in the Schinkel Church with excited anticipation.
