Under the leadership of its artistic director, the violinist Mira Wang, the Moritzburg Festival Academy has acquired an excellent reputation as a creative music workshop. It has been a firmly established constituent of the Moritzburg Festival, founded in 1993 by its artistic director Jan Vogler, since 2006. Every year, music students from all over the world are invited to participate in the Academy with an international call for applications. Besides intensive chamber music work with experienced festival artists, the up-and-coming talents also rehearse several works for larger ensembles as the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra which they subsequently perform led by chief conductor Josep Caballé Domenech at the festival in front of an audience, and also in the form of guest performances elsewhere. In the eighth year of the partnership with Jan Vogler's chamber music workshop, the Moritzburg Festival will now be sending musical anniversary greetings to the Stiftung Schloss Neuhardenberg foundation in the form of its orchestra that will also include a solo performance by none other than Jan Vogler. The programme includes Antonio Vivaldi's Double concerto for cellos in G minor, RV531, and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.
