Christmas Post
A literary musical Advent
calendar of cultures
With her musical literary Advent calendar, Suzanne von Borsody takes her audience on a poetic journey around the globe and highlights the universal yet also so widely differing meaning of the various Christmas traditions. The focus is on stories, poems and prose texts that examine the themes of love, peace and hope in different cultural contexts – from the biblical story of the birth of Jesus to the Nordic figure of Father Christmas and the Italian witch Befana, from the customs surrounding Saint Nicholas in the eastern Mediterranean countries to the Persian Yaldā Night.
The texts from all over the world, which include humorous and ironic tales as well as profound or contemplative observations in a wide range of styles, make us look forward even more excitedly to the upcoming festive season. Suzanne von Borsody will be accompanied by the Duo Feliz (Omar Plasencia on the vibraphone and Kurt Holzkämper on the bass) with sounds that are as light as a feather and sometimes also melancholic as she illuminates these widely varying as well as shared Christmas season traditions.
