Born in Israel into a Yemeni family, Achinoam Nini, or Noa for short, lived in New York until the age of seventeen, which enabled her to develop a personality with many facets. One of these is jazz. It is a natural part of her identity, just as much as her Yemeni and Israeli roots. Blessed with a great voice and outstanding musicality, she became a singer, composer, percussionist and activist who is appreciated far beyond the borders of Israel. She is a famous advocate of dialogue and coexistence, the Israeli culture scene's 'voice for peace'. She has known her musical partner Gil Dor for over thirty years. He was a co-founder of the school where she completed her musical education, and is a highly respected musician who has 'jazz in his blood'. They have released sixteen celebrated albums together and performed hundreds of concerts at venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall and the White House, and also in front of a total of three popes.
