Brandenburg Art Award
of the Märkische Oderzeitung newspaper and
the Schloss Neuhardenberg Foundation
Once again this year, and therefore for the eighteenth time, the Märkische Oderzeitung newspaper and the Stiftung Schloss Neuhardenberg foundation will be awarding the Brandenburgischer Kunstpreis in the categories painting, graphic design, sculpture and photography. An accompanying exhibition in the foundation's rooms shows the award-winning works as well as a comprehensive selection of all submissions. The awards ceremony, the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue impressively illustrate the variety and liveliness of the Brandenburg art scene.
Brandenburg is the home of many artists, their refuge and also a source of inspiration. Their creative achievements make an elemental contribution to the region's development of a unique cultural character that challenges the increasing interchangeability with a definitive identity and a distinctive profile.
The awards ceremony will be held at Neuhardenberg on 20 June by invitation only. The patron of the Brandenburgischer Kunstpreis is the Brandenburg State Premier, who also sponsors a lifetime achievement award every year that is presented to a personality who has proven outstanding dedication to the arts in the state of Brandenburg. Brandenburg's Minister of Science, Research and Culture will award a scholarship for the promotion of talented young artists. The Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung sponsors the photography prize, which has been awarded since 2018.
