A project by trainee photographers from Lette-Verein Berlin
Schloss Neuhardenberg has also always viewed itself as a place where talented young artists are given a platform – as exemplified, for instance, by its programmes for young musicians as well as individual exhibitions specifically dedicated to up-and-coming artists. In the autumn of 2019, the Stiftung Schloss Neuhardenberg will be showing works by photography students from the renowned Lette Verein in Berlin produced on an excursion to the Oderbruch region. The Lette Verein’s three-year vocational training course also includes practical exercises such as this field trip under the motto of ‘space’. The diverse charms of the Oderbruch regions inspired the young photographers in many different ways – the results of their various approaches to the countryside in eastern Brandenburg range from studies and panoramic landscape images to staged fashion photographs in front of improvised backgrounds.
Being catapulted from the hectic life in the city to the slower provincial life provided the trainee photographers with a radical change of perspective. The pictures in the exhibition, produced together with their teachers Silke Spiegel and Rainer Schwesig, reflect how they mastered this challenge, both in a creative way but also in terms of documenting their experiences.
