The ‘Masterclass Student Masters’ series of events started in 2009. It is funded by the German Savings Banks Association. Classical music scene stars work with extremely talented young musicians, all of whom are former winners of ‘Jugend musiziert’, Germany’s annual national competition for young classical musicians. In Neuhardenberg, Nils Mönkemeyer, one of the best-known violists of our times, will be performing together with three exceptionally talented people, with the help of pianist William Youn. The South Korean, who is also very busy with giving solo concerts, frequently collaborates with Nils Mönkemeyer on stage and CD.

Nils Mönkemeyer not only performs all over the world but also demonstrates in many different ways that he is particularly committed to passing on his knowledge, currently as a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. In an interview, the musician said about his relationship with his students: ‘I see myself as a friend who just happens to know a little bit more about the subject.’

The violinist Albrecht Menzel has already performed with Anne-Sophie Mutter in the USA, Canada and Europe, giving concerts at the Carnegie Hall and the Philharmonie Luxembourg, for example. He has won numerous first prizes in German and international competitions. The cellist and pianist Valentino Worlitzsch has won several first and second prizes in ‘Jugend musiziert’ and other competitions. He has been a student at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar since 2013. The violinist Felicitas Schiffner has won several first prizes in the ‘Jugend musiziert’ competition. In the 2012 national competition, she came first, scoring the highest possible number of points in the category ‘Duo: Piano and a String Instrument’.

A ‘Masterclass Student Masters’ series concert, sponsored by the German Savings Banks Association cultural fund.
