Following the resounding success of the first Kino trifft Kulinarik event in September 2015, the Stiftung Schloss Neuhardenberg foundation once again extends an invitation to spend a summer evening in the gardens and the park.

Parks have always been important locations and sources of inspiration for all kinds of films. Over the years, almost 40 famous movies have been set in parks, from Alain Resnais’ Last Year at Marienbad to Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon and Kenneth Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing. However, gardens and parks have also always been venues for major festivals with music and culinary temptations.

Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick presents a movie magnum opus: to mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, the film Shakespeare in Love, winner of seven Oscars, will be shown open air beneath the star-studded Neuhardenberg skies. Before the screening, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg is going to perform compositions based on Shakespeare’s works.

On offer will also be culinary delights produced by Michael Hoffmann, until 2014 the owner of the star-rated restaurant Margaux near the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, in cooperation with the Schloss Neuhardenberg kitchens. These will be served either at tables in the rose garden and the Orangerie restaurant, or may be taken away for a picnic in the park.

Picnic hampers containing a selection of food for two compiled exclusively for the occasion by Michael Hoffmann will be available on the evening, by pre-order only. Please see for full details of the Michael Hoffmann picnic menus and for more information about the event.
