Brandenburg Art Award

Brandenburg Art Award sponsored by
the Märkische Oderzeitung newspaper and
the Schloss Neuhardenberg Foundation

under the aegis of the
Brandenburg State Premier

The photography prize is funded by
Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung.

The Brandenburg Art Award is a true classic. The Schloss Neuhardenberg foundation began to host cultural events in eastern Brandenburg eighteen years ago, and its partnership with the Märkische Oderzeitung newspaper has existed for almost as long. In cooperation, both institutions award the Brandenburgischer Kunstpreis (‘Brandenburg Art Award’), an extremely important prize for Brandenburg and its artists.

In the past, around 300 artists submitted their work for consideration each year, which proves the diversity and liveliness of the Brandenburg art scene. In 2020, Brandenburg-based artists will once again be invited to submit their work. The art prize is awarded in the categories painting, graphic design, sculpture and photography.

The lifetime achievement award is sponsored by the Brandenburg State Premier. It is awarded to a personality who has shown outstanding dedication to the arts in the state of Brandenburg. The region’s Minister of Science, Research and Culture will award a scholarship for the promotion of talented young artists. The Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung sponsors the photography prize, which will be awarded for the third time this year.

The accompanying exhibition, which has also long-since become a tradition, will take stock of the current developments on the Brandenburg art scene by showing a selection of the works submitted. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue.
