Klaus Hoffmann, vocals
Hawo Bleich, piano
Aquamarine is known as the ‘sailors’ lucky stone’. The fact that Klaus Hoffmann chose this title for his latest album makes perfect sense. From the early 1970s until today, the singer has been something of a vagrant where he himself and his life are concerned but now, with this album, he appears to have arrived at who he is. In a sensitive, political and reconciliatory way, the romantic and altruist divines the mood of the times and incorporates it into his songs. Aquamarin can hold its own with his impressive 1975 debut Klaus Hoffmann or his strong album Melancholia (2000); however, it also closes a circle that started with the two releases before this one, Sehnsucht and Leise Zeichen: from his early days, a time of beginnings and the start of his journey to today’s singer-songwriter and entertainer. It is therefore only logical that Klaus Hoffmann will, as always, not only perform his latest songs but also a few of his well-known classics that have accompanied him on his journey for many years. Authenticity and speaking unguardedly about himself – Klaus Hoffmann’s fundamental sincerity is not one of his trademarks or a promo gimmick: it is his way of life. He is always completely himself, that man up there on the stage, the man that speaks, sings and plays the guitar: in Neuhardenberg once more accompanied by his musical partner, the pianist Hawo Bleich.
